The Virginia Plan:

was written by James Maddison
was favored by the large states.
It has a bicameral legislature.
was based on British Parliament.
had a lower and upper house.
was based on free population
didn't include slaves (3/5 law)
gave the national government more power
made smaller individual states worry that their voices would not be heard

The New Jersey Plan,,...

The New Jersey Plan was written by William Patterson and favored by smaller states.
The legislature,the body that would make and pass laws for the United States,would be unicameral[[having one house]].
Each state would have the same number of delegates in Congress,so that small and large states would haveequal representation.
This plan differed from the Articles in that it allowed the government to regulate interstate and international trade.

The Bill of Rights Ratifacation

The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution were added after the document was written and they are known as the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights was ratified by 1788 and Georgia was the first state to ratify it.A new government was placed in 1789 and George Washington became the nation's first President.

William Few

William Few was a Georgia delegate who signed the Constitution at the Continental Convention. William missed a lot of portions of the convention and he played an important role in passing the Constitution through congress. Few helped write the Georgia Constitution of 1777. He was later elected to the U.S Congress to represent Georgia.

Abraham Baldwin

Abraham Baldwin was born in North Gulliford, Connecticut on Novmber 22,1754. Abraham was the President of the senate during the Seventh Congress,& Baldwin was a fervent missionary of public education as well. He also served in the Continental Army during the climatic years of the Revolution.Abraham Baldwin represented Georgia at the Constitutional Convention. It was here that Baldwin helped to resolve the large state-small state representation crisis.

When the colonies won independence. They decided that they needed a government. The federal or centralized government needed to be given more power. In 1787 the leaders of each state met at the Constitutional Convention.They placed the Articles of Confederation with th eU.S. Constitution. The Great Compromise solved all of these problems. Each state wanted representation in the government. They created a bicameral congress.
